Colvard Eye Center News...

In addition to their busy clinical practices, Dr. Colvard and Dr. Kandavel are active both in the field of medical research and in post-graduate education. This year they published a paper discussing surgical techniques for complicated cataract surgeries and have presented a number of lectures to their colleagues in ophthalmology. Dr. Colvard served as an invited speaker this summer at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery in London, and at the annual meeting of American Academy of Ophthalmology. At these meetings his presentations focused on the advances in cataract surgery using accommodative and multifocal intraocular lenses. Dr. Colvard has also continued his teaching activities both at the USC Doherty Eye Institute and at Jules Stein Eye Institute.

Dr. Kandavel presented a lecture series on multifocal lenses and laser vision correction at both Encino-Tarzana Medical Center and Valley Presbyterian Hospital. In addition, Dr. Kandavel was made a teaching professor at UC Irvine where he instructs young doctors in both clinical and surgical ophthalmology.
