Multifocal Lenses: The Restor® and ReZoom™ Lenses

Breakthroughs in the design of multifocal lenses in the last year have led to the development of two new lenses the ReSTOR and the ReZoom. The monofocal lenses used routinely in cataract surgery are excellent, but only allow for focus of distance or near objects, not both. These two new intraocular lenses are able to focus light at various distances therefore reducing the need for glasses for both seeing far objects(street signs) and for near vision tasks (reading your watch). This represents a great advantage over the traditional monofocal intraocular lens.
